‘Obscuritas’ takes its name from the Latin for darkness. Drawn from Maclean's loss of three close friends, his Spring/Summer 2027 collection traces a journey from darkness into light, a struggle he sees echoed widely in the creative industries. It is his way of drawing attention to that reality, and of turning something that has haunted him into something worn openly rather than hidden away.
The silhouettes are classical yet modern, at times abstract, in tulle, stretch cotton, linen and wool. Fabrics are bleached, printed and, for the first time, hand-painted, with emotion applied directly onto the cloth so each garment becomes its own artwork.
