Orlando in Opulence

SS'24

The collection is influenced by Virginia Woolf’s ‘Orlando’, a novel that spans centuries and follows its protagonist through a transformation from male to female, exploring identity, fluidity, and the passage of time. Maclean translates these themes into fashion, merging historical silhouettes with modern, gender-neutral tailoring to mirror Orlando’s journey across eras and expressions. Using only dead stock and natural fabrics, he created sustainable, recyclable pieces that embody renewal and reinvention. Shown at London Fashion Week in St Paul’s Church, the collection celebrated rebirth, imperfection, and opulence through a palette of reclaimed textiles and fluid design.
